The Clown Dynamic

 

 

What is Clown? Why are we drawn to Clown? And what do we expect from a Clown?

 

Description

There are many ways to approach Clown. This path explores the "smallest mask in the universe", not as a character, but as a process. There is a place where everything feels possible: the inner world where your Clown lives. It's a magical space where mind, body, and heart connect freely, beyond fixed structures. I fall in love with this place every time I reach it.

This course invites you on a journey toward that place, a free space where rules exist, but breaking them may lead to truth. It’s a practice that demands honesty: mentally, physically, and emotionally. Suitable for actors, dancers, performers, clowns, and anyone curious about themselves, the training touches three main areas: physical, emotional, and mental.

Each session includes a first part of training and a second part of guided clown improvisation. To join this workshop, don’t rush, approach it like a spiritual journey toward your own Clown.

I’m not interested in simply making people laugh. I’m passionate about the human being: how we function, our problems, brains, abilities, limits, emotions, in short, our dynamics. That’s what’s truly funny, even if we don’t always see it.

The main theme of the seminar is metamorphosis, a fundamental element of artistic creation, and especially of the Clown. We will explore the Clown Dynamic.

The course includes: physical training, meditations, improvisations, tears, and smiles.

The Level I workshop lasts 5/6 days.
It is necessary to bring the following items:

• Skin-colored underwear and comfortable clothing.

• An "onion" dress. Two colors are required: white, black, or both. The workshop is barefoot.

• 1 Zafou: a small hard pillow to sit on the ground (20 cm high).

• 1 small blanket.

• One gift made with love.

The workshop is aimed at clowns, actors, dancers, performers, circus artists, acrobats, singers, directors, and others.

II LEVEL: Intensive residential seminar

The discovery of the Clown

 

What is Clown? What draws us to the Clown? And what do you expect from a Clown?

 

Description

There are many ways to approach the Clown. This workshop focuses on the smallest mask of the universe—not as a character, but as a process. It leads to a place where everything seems possible: the inner space where one’s own Clown resides. A magical realm where mind, body, and heart engage freely, beyond structures. Every time I find myself in this place, I fall in love with it. The course guides you towards this space—a free zone where rules exist, but where it’s not always right to follow them.

This work demands mental, physical, and emotional honesty. It requires practice and presence. The training is suitable for actors, dancers, performers, clowns, or anyone interested. It covers three key areas: physical, emotional, and mental. Each session includes training followed by guided improvisation.

Level II Residential Seminar Info

The Level II seminar lasts 8-10 days.

Please bring the following:

• Comfortable skin-colored underwear

• "Onion" costume: two colors, either white, black, or both (work barefoot)

• 1 Zafou (small hard pillow to sit on, about 20 cm high)

• At least 30 large safety pins

• Fat-based makeup: white, black, red, brown, gold, silver (large tubes) + other optional colors (recommend Kryolan’s Supracolor line for face/body; 30 ml + palettes with 6 colors)

• Cream base: to help makeup stay in place

• Transparent powder, sponges, brushes, makeup removal products (wipes, etc.)

This seminar is particularly suited for those who have already participated in Level I, and is also open to clowns, actors, dancers, performers, circus artists, acrobats, singers, directors, or others.
